This means they have access to experienced and engaged educators, a diverse offering of course materials, social opportunities, and extracurricular activities that allow them to excel both inside and outside the classroom.    ### Why Is It So Important to Provide More Than Just Quality Instruction?  It’s easy to see how students benefit from well-rounded educational experiences. The perks of a great education include giving children the opportunity to pursue activities they may not otherwise have access to. This pushes young minds to get outside of their comfort zones, which is the only place where new skills, coping mechanisms, and awareness are gained. Offering social, educational, and skill-based opportunities can help a developing mind uncover new interests and talents. Just as importantly, having an education that prioritizes more than just the GPA allows students to develop bonds with their teachers that aren’t strictly authoritarian. This can help young people better trust the adults in their lives while developing the confidence they need to grow into healthy and balanced adults themselves.   ### Education For Today and Beyond The high school experience brings life satisfaction today and opens new doors for young adults tomorrow. Participating in [extracurricular activities](https://www.curreyingram.org/student-life) is one way to get on a college’s radar. It shows leadership, determination, and balancing social and academic responsibilities. Further, students who participate in many different activities outside of the classroom are more exposed to a diverse range of people of all different genders, sexual identities, ethnicities, and social classes. This brings a greater awareness of life in the “real world.”   ### Encouraging A Well-Rounded Student From an early age, parents and educators alike can encourage adaptability and versatility in their students. This is done by allowing new opportunities from an early age, often as soon as kindergarten. Students at this age might participate in the singing club or art class outside of school hours. Further into the child’s educational career, they can begin to do sports, theater, and other extracurriculars that involve critical thinking, teamwork, and creativity. At the high school level, students can go even further by participating in community-oriented groups, such as National Honors Society. They might represent their school's academic team, sports leagues, or other groups in a more independent way. This can help lay a solid foundation for the confidence they need when interviewed by colleges and employers later. Also, in their later years of school, students may be encouraged to take honors and AP-level classes, using their elective courses to diversify their knowledge base further. Ultimately, having a well-rounded student brings many benefits in the classroom and beyond. Students who are presented with multiple opportunities to learn more than just math, English, and history, get the chance to showcase their strengths and abilities outside of the classroom setting, where many students, especially those with learning differences, may struggle to keep up. Further, all students, regardless of age, can benefit from diversity as moving outside of an academic setting prepares students for life outside of the K-12 environment. There’s never a better time than today to give your children an opportunity to grow.
